The Colour Gang Comics School is offering a two-semester course on creating comics, starting September 2015. Our small group meets once a week in the evening and focuses on hands-on learning and experimentation.

Tuition

We’re a small organization of volunteers providing a low-cost alternative to art schools. Tuition funds will be turned into a grant for Canadian cartoonists. Grand total for eight months: $850.

For anyone struggling to make tuition, we can work out payment plans, trades, etc… We won’t turn you away for being broke; we’ll work with you to find an option that fits.

Content

We’ll be covering everything from storytelling techniques and character design to hand-lettering and colour theory. You’ll learn to work with traditional tools, as well as digital and print media. We’ll also talk about history, the independent scene, and comics from around the world. Occasional guest speakers will include award-winning cartoonists Simon Roy, Rene Nault, and Tyler Witzel.

First Semester: Sept to Dec, 2015 (dates TBA)
Second Semester: Jan to April, 2016 (dates TBA)
